Since the trees haven't started running at full capacity yet, I had another day to get caught up with some cleaning. I had a couple of cups of Herbal Concentrate Tea, so I had energy to spare today! I cleared off some counter space and put things away. (I'm too good at just setting it here for now, I'll put it away when I have more time). I diced up a 3 lb. bag of onions and put them in the freezer. I will put them in small freezer bags tomorrow. We use them in our breakfast eggs, in casseroles, and it is so handy to have them cut up and ready to use.

I made a pot of Bean Soup with ham in it, for supper. Sprinkle some diced raw onion on a bowl of bean soup, and with fresh hot cornbread, there 'ain't' no bettter eatin'.

I sorted out some magazines to make more space. Did some laundry. Labeled and stored the maple syrup that we made.
I sure hope the trees run enough, so that I can make at least one more batch!

Sounds like your day was busy and FULL. Wish I could have come over for supper, I'd love to have a mess of beans and cornbread. Kenny don't like either one so I haven't had any in ages.

How much syrup do you have made up already? Can you reuse that burn't pan or is another one on order?

Isn't it great to not to have to get up early every morning and go rob Peter to pay Paul?

HOW DID YOU CLEAN YOUR SYRUP PAN? KENNY'S BROTHER BARROWED A PAN TO COOK SYRUP IN AND WENT IN THE HOUSE FOR AWHILE LIKE YOU DID AND HIS TURNED OUT JUST LIKE YOUR BOO BOO. HE TRIED EVERYTHING ON IT TO GET THE BURNT CRUST OUT AND NOTHING WAS WORKING VERY WELL. FINALLY HE USED A WIRE BRUSH ON A GRINDER AND GROUND IT OFF, THEN USED A FINER BRUSH TO FINISH UP. THAT WAS HIS FIRST AND ONLY BATCH FOR THIS YEAR.

WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR COOKING PAN?

We couldn't get the pan cleaned up, and I wouldn't use it that way, as the syrup would have a burnt taste. I another one, so we used it.

I bought my two pans at a restuarant Supply store in Bloomington. It cost me $26.00. It has been worth that, many times over! They are pans used by restaurants for their steam table. Stainless steel. Either 4 inches deep or 6 inches. The burnt one was 4 inches deep, but the 6 inch one works just fine, too. They are 12x20x6.Come up and we'll go get him one!
